Andy Taylor and Roger Taylor left Duran Duran before the recording of their fourth album, 1986's Notorious, and the band underwent numerous other personnel changes and shifts in musical direction from late 1980s until the turn of the twenty-first century, with only sporadic commercial success. In 1985, the band topped the US charts with the single " A View to a Kill" from the soundtrack of the film of the same name. Their follow-up third album, Seven and the Ragged Tiger, became their only UK number one album and featured the US and UK number one single " The Reflex". Sophomore album Rio (1982) proved their international breakthrough, with hit singles such as " Hungry Like the Wolf" and " Rio" being bolstered by cinematic music videos played heavily on MTV. The band experienced immediate UK chart success with their self-titled debut album and single " Girls on Film" in 1981. The group was a leading band in the MTV-driven Second British Invasion of the US in the 1980s. Innovators of the music video, Duran Duran was catapulted into the mainstream with the introduction of the 24-hour music channel MTV. When Duran Duran emerged they were generally considered part of the New Romantic scene.
